Why We Started Beck and Co (And Why “Different” Was Never Negotiable)
Share
Ever find yourself looking into the abyss that is children's clothing aisles and wondering how people are paid to create the clothes in them?
Let me take you back to the moment Beck & Co really began… not the website launch, not the first order, but the moment Jade and I were standing in a high street kids’ section, both of us quietly thinking: is this really it?
Miniature versions of boring adult basics.
Fast fashion in tiny sizes.
Nothing that felt like us, or honestly, like the kids we were raising.
The Goal
We wanted something with a bit of edge. Inspired by skate culture, vintage graphics, the kind of relaxed oversized fits we wore ourselves. We wanted our kids to feel cool and comfortable - not like they’d been dressed by an algorithm.
So we stopped looking for it and started making it.
Humble Beginnings
Beck and Co was born at our kitchen table. Every design is illustrated in-house, every fabric chosen because we’d genuinely put it on our own child. We’re a wife-and-wife team, completely self-funded, and we’ve grown entirely through word of mouth from families who felt the same gap we did.
We’re not a big brand. We don’t want to be. We do small-batch drops, premium heavyweight fabrics, and pieces designed to be worn on repeat - not binned after three washes.
If you’ve ever stood in that same high street aisle thinking there has to be something better than this - you’ve found it. Welcome to Beck & Co.
